Attorney David Griffin Presents at the Transatlantic Wealth & Estate Planning Conference

Attorney David Griffin, Partner of the Firm, was recently invited to speak at the Transatlantic Wealth & Estate Planning Conference in New York on the topic of Navigating Divorce in Cross-Border Unions. The Conference, held in September of 2023, invited Wealth and Estate Planning Investment Managers, Trust Administrators and Estate Planning Lawyers from Europe, Bermuda, the Caribbean and the USA for a day of collaboration and learning.

Attorney Griffin’s presentation covered international prenuptial agreements (drafting, choice of law, local jurisdictional anomalies and considerations at the negotiation and execution stages) as well as how to handle an international divorce and the jurisdictional, venue and client management considerations to be taken into account for best client outcomes. Topics such as marital and separate property, trust situs, document translations and practice tips were covered. The Panel also examined potential changes in the law in different jurisdictions and the impact that such changes may have on basic client decisions such as where to live, when to trigger enforcement and where to file.
